Cautions and Limitations --------------------------------------------------- * Limitations to Collate Printing - When [RAM Disk] is set to [Not Installed] in [Installable Options] of the printer driver, collate printing is not available even though the RAM Disk is installed actually. When the RAM Disk is installed to the printer, set [RAM Disk] to [Installed] in [Installable Options]. * Notes on Windows 8.1 or later versions - Limitation on Output Color function Depending on the operating system and the application program, documents may be printed in color, when documets appear in Black and white on screen. To prevent this, it is recommended to set [Output Color] to [Black and White] when printing documents. * Notes on Windows 7 or later versions - Driver installation method by Plug & Play Driver installation by Plug & Play may not complete properly. In such case, install the driver again following the process below. - Select [Devices and Printers]. - Right-click on the icon of this printer in the [Devices and Printers] folder and click [Properties]. - The icon may be uncontrollable with grayout. Turn on the power of printer again and be sure that the printer is connected by cable. - In a condition of keeping this printer selected in [Device Functions] on the [Hard ware] tab, click the [Properties] button and open the Property dialog. - Click the [Change Settings] button and open new [Properties] dialog. - Open the [Driver] tab in the new [Properties] dialog, click the [Update Driver] button and open the [Update Driver Software] dialog. - Select [Browse my computer for driver software] and specify the driver location by [Search for driver software in this location], Click the [Next] button. - A message indicating that the driver has been updated will be displayed. Therefore, performed the installation as described above by right-clicking [Add a printer] or select [Install a printer]. * Notes and limitations about the server-client environment - Server-Client Environment Issue (1) If the printer is being used as a shared printer and the server's operating system is being upgraded, a message indicating that the driver has to be updated may appear on the client, causing printing to fail. In this case, the print driver has to be reinstall on the client to be able to print again. - Server-Client Environment Issue (2) In the Server-Client environment, after a print driver is added or upgraded on the Server side, printing may not be performed with a displayed message requiring print driver upgrade on the Client side. This problem can be avoided by the settings below. < Change of Group Policy Settings on Client PC > 1. Log on as an Administrator on Client PC. 2. Open command prompt and execute "gpedit.msc". to open [Local Group Policy Editor]. 3. Open the tree on the left side in the following order. [User Configuration] [Administrative Templates] [Control Panel] [Printers] 4. Double-click [Point and Print Restrictions] in the right pane. 5. Click the [Disabled] radio button. ([Disabled] radio button is on [Settings] tab in Windows Vista.) 6. Click [OK] to close the window. 7. Close [Local Group Policy Editor]. For more details on this issue, please refer to the following URL. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/946225 * Notes on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 - Installation in Windows' cluster environment To install the driver in the restricted cluster environment, you have to install the driver for each node first. * Limitations on shared printer When the driver is shared over the network and the driver, with different architecture, is specified and installed as an additional driver, a dialog box requesting for the specified architecture media will appear. Even if you have made an entry in the dialog box, it will keep on appearing, causing the installation to fail. For example, this will happen when installing x64 driver on x86 operating system. * Limitation on printer search function Even when [Broadcast] is used to search for printer in the [Printer Search] dialog box, which appears when [Get Information from Printer] or [Status] is selected, printer search may fail. When this happened, select [Specify Address] to implement the printer search may resolve this problem. * Limitations for combination use of [Print in Reverse Order] and other features The following features cannot be used if [Print in Reverse Order] is specified. - Specify Job Owner Name - Secure Print / Sample Set - Document Monitor - Banner Sheet If the above-mentioned features were specified concurrently with [Print in Reverse Order], secure print may malfunction, causing the print job to be printed as normal job. * For shared printers If the client of the shared printer is using an operating system not supported by this driver, an alternative driver for the respective operating system is required. Please ensure that the alternative driver has the same driver version as this driver. If the versions are different, the alternative driver may not be able to install. * Notes on using Image Rotation 180 Degrees When margins are set up on the server properties and [Image Rotation 180 Degrees] is specified, print position may not be printed correctly. * Limitations on user-defined size When user-defined size is used and the displayed width and height are set to the minimum (or maximum) value, the print job may not be printed properly. In this case, please change the value to a larger (or smaller) value to print. * Limitation on the setting range The range of user-defined sizes that can be used by the PostScript 3 Compatible driver vary depending on the device model. Paper sizes that exceed the limit of the user-defined size (there may be slight deviation due to unit conversion) may not be printed properly. * Notes on paper sizes When applications that enable paper specification, such as Microsoft Word, are used, please ensure that the same paper size is specified on the application and the driver. * Limitations concerning 2-Sided Printing If you are printing documents with odd-number of pages, a blank page may be added to the last page depending on the settings of the operating system (referred to as "OS" hereinafter). Summon the Properties dialog box from the printer icon and deselect the [Enable advanced printing features] in the [Advanced] tab. This will prevent the printer from adding blank paper to the printout. However, please take note that once this check box is unchecked, Reverse Printing will become unavailable. In addition, some application software will automatically insert blank sheet for page adjustment according to the condition for specifying print quantities. As this behavior is a specification of the application software, it is not possible to configure this driver or the device to prevent blank sheet from being inserted to the printout. The target device will print the data as it is received after it is edited and printed from the client's side according to the operating system or application software specification. If the document data to be printed consist of blank-sheet data inserted by the operating system or application software, this blank sheet will be counted as part of the print data. * Blank Separators If you set [EMF Spooling] to [Enabled] and perform [2-Sided Print] with documents of odd number of pages, a blank page may be inserted on the last page depending on application or OS. * Limitation when printing black and white document Depending on the application program, black and white document may be printed in color as black can be output in process black (C=M=Y). To prevent this, it is recommended to set [Output Color] to [Black and White] when printing black and white documents. * Co-existing with the MSPScript driver bundled with the operating system When both FX Plug-in driver and MSPScript driver bundled with the operating system were used to install printer of the same model, the driver installed most recently will overwrite the previously installed driver, even if the printer icon name is different. If you have accidentally installed a MSPScript driver bundled with the operating system, please install the FX Plug-in driver again. * Limitation on PS Output Options (1) When [EPS (Encapsulated PS)] is selected under PS Output Options, print settings such as paper tray, output method, copies may become invalid. Please do not use this for printing. * Limitation on PS Output Options (2) When [Archive Format] is selected for PS Output Options, the print job may not be printed properly. Please use it to print to file only. * Notes on Output Color When setting other than [ICM Disabled] is selected for [ICM Method] in [Advanced] tab, such as when ICC profile is applied on the print driver, printing in black-and-white mode will fail. To print in black-and-white mode using print driver with ICC profile applied, please set [ICM Method] in [Advanced Settings] tab to [ICM Disabled]. * Limitation on the font used Problem with garbled characters may occur depending on your application and font used. In this case, change the setting for [TrueType Font Download Options] to [Outline] or [Bitmap] may solve the problem. * Limitations on remote installation When remote installation is executed, driver installation may not end properly. * LPR connection In [Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard], when the dialog box showing [Additional Port Information Required] is displayed, please select a corresponding printer for [Standard] in [Device Type]. * Notes on Standard TCP/IP Port When document fails to print in some applications, select [LPR Byte Counting Enabled] check box in [Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor] may solve the problem. * Notes and limitations on certain applications - Limitations on Adobe Acrobat 8.1 When [Secure Print] and [Sample Set] is selected, the document name may not display properly in the device panel. - Limitations in Adobe Acrobat(1) When [Image Rotation 180 Degrees] is used, image may not be printed properly.
